PlayItForward Staff-led Initiative by Microgaming Raises Nearly $100000

It’s been a year since the most recent PlayItForward initiative was launched and Microgaming’s staff has managed to raise over $97813. It’s a space for employees to nominate and vote for charitable causes.

The PlayItForward initiative is Microgaming’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme and has been running for five years. The online gaming software developer supports areas like charity, education, health, and sports through PlayItForward.

The staff-led charity voting project at Microgaming’s headquarters in Douglas, Isle of Man, aims to increase employee participation with the PlayItForward programme. Launched in April 2018, it has gathered 4000 votes so far.

Some of the charities supported include:

  • The Family Library;
  • Douglas Coal Fund;
  • Cruse Bereavement Care;
  • The Arts Hub; and
  • Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation among others.

Also, employees at Microgaming’s HQ chose to support Bridge the Gap, an organisation that helps with facilities and support for teen and young adult long-term health needs. Additionally, they also chose PhysioNet, which distributes unwanted wheelchairs and other mobility equipment to those who need it in developing countries.

Moreover, PlayItForward doesn’t just donate to organisations and charities. They also assist individuals in need in their community. After a staff nomination in December, Isle of Man local Joseph Fleming was given support in purchasing a replacement wheelchair.

Microgaming’s CSR programme is making a difference for the communities of the Isle of Man. AID Rescue representative, Anita Williams, said the gaming company has helped them tremendously. “We rehome dogs, rehabilitate dogs and we pay for a lot of dogs on island and off island to have operations. The money we are receiving from Microgaming PlayItForward will go towards buying the ambulance that we well and truly need, one of the important tools at AID Rescue for the need of the community.”
